ICAN and Lawyers For Peace present an online lobby training session discussing the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons
Date and time: Tue, 29 June 2021, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM AEST
Location: Online event
The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is the first international agreement to comprehensively ban nuclear weapons and set out a pathway for their elimination. With 86 signatories and 54 states parties, the treaty is now in force. The first meeting of states parties is scheduled for January 2022 in Vienna, Austria. Australia is not yet among the signatories.
Join the Director of ICAN Australia, Gem Romuld, to learn about this treaty and the role of civil society in ensuring Australia joins the ban. The session will include a training on political advocacy for the TPNW. With the increasing threat of nuclear weapons worldwide, it is the right time to organise and grow community and political support for the prohibition, stigmatisation and elimination of nuclear weapons.
