I grew up in country Victoria. My grandpa would tell me stories of World War II and how he became a medic to maintain his pacifism. A decade or two on from those stories, my careers media and law have taken me to many the parts of the world he served.
While it saddens me that as a society we appear to have forgotten the lessons of our grandparents and great grandparents, the enthusiasm that young lawyers and law students have shown towards Lawyers For Peace fills me with hope for the future.
